The Tower Burn watercourse and trees in the foreground; cottages behind; the Palace and Abbey of Dunfermline stretching across the scene. A description of the scene in brown ink on the opposite page. Inscribed 'Abbey of DumFermline from the South East' in black ink in the lower left-hand corner of the mount.
