- A pyramid decorated with military regalia and flaming spheres on a square plinth with three steps enclosed by three cannon-shaped poles, with its inscription transcribed and translated below.

- 'Shortly after Moore's death Corunna was occupied by Spanish troops under the marque_s de La Romana. A wooden column was painted to resemble stone and placed over the grave on a pediment of guns and shells, the impressive unveiling ceremony being attended by military and civil authorities. Romana wrote an inscription on the column in black chalk. Subsequently, the British converted this memorial into a more permanent structure of marble, with a Latin inscription.
