- Additional information
- This drawing may be by Francis Grose who published 'The antiquities of Scotland' in 1797. Three images of Inchcolm after Grose appear in Volume II and although not the same as this view, they show a similar tratment of line and space. This work bears what appears to be the Joseph Gulston mark on the recto 'No222' and a partial price on the verso. However, because the work is dated 1789 and the Gulston sale was 1786, it shows that this work did not come to King George III through this auction and that the inventory mark was probably not Gulston's.
