According to the inscription engraved below the image on the left, the print was 'Engrav'd from the Original Picture in the Possession of W.m Baillie Esq', which refers to the art dealer and printmaker William Baillie (1723-1810). The original painting, dated c. 1655-1657, is now is an American private collection (see Harwood, Laurie, Adam Pynacker (c. 1620-1673), Doornspijk, 1988, cat. no. 46A, pp. 71-72).
