Trees in the foreground; a small boat on the River Clyde at the centre of the scene; Dumbarton Castle at the centre; mountains in the distance. Inscribed with title, partially illegible along lower edge in black ink. Also inscribed 'Dumbuck & ye Castle of Dunglass on the right hand' in black ink in the lower right-hand corner.

Additional information
Donated to George III in 1786. Part of a volume of prints and drawings by John Clerk of Eldin together with manuscript descriptions for each and a letter to George III by David Erskine, 11th Earl of Buchan. Some of the etchings were hand-tinted by Robert Adam.
