Description
View of Windsor showing the Round Tower in the middle distance on the right, with a house building against the castle walls on the right, a man mending the wheel of an overturned barrow nearby and a woman and child in the left foreground, gesturing towards Winchester Tower in the background to left, while looking back at a man sitting on the verge on the right, holding a sheaf of hay on a staff, tilting a wicker chair against the verge and smiling at a dog in front of him. Title and date etched into a stone in lower right-hand corner. Bears title inscribed in black ink below image on washline mount. Inscribed '11 tab fol 6' in blue crayon on verso.

This item has been cut to within the platemark and to the very edge of the image. The publication and artist information have been taken from an uncoloured print from the same plate (but which was printed at a later date with aquatint in 1812) in the British Museum at 1904,0819.59 which reads: 'P. Sandby 1780 / Published by T. Palser Surry side Westminster Bridge 1812'.
