- A draughtsman works under an umbrella sitting on the edge of a cliff overlooking the Mer de Glace with his guide, an assistant and a dog in the foreground, with three travellers contemplating the view near a man sitting at the door of a small cabin with a wooden roof inscribed 'Blair's Hospital / Utile Dulce' beyond and Grande Jorasse mountain in the background.

- Production details from signed and dated impression with different lettering in the British Museum (1958,0712.1341). Because of the date, the Linck mentioned in the publication line in Maps K.Top.76.81.2. must be Johann Konrad Linck, whose son Jean Antoine produced a slightly different view of the same location with the same title as this in about 1800.
