Description
Barges and sailing ships decorated with colourful ensigns on Huang He River, with tents and stalls on the banks on both sides and hills seen in distance. Signed with initials at bottom right and annotated in pencil on verso: 'Entrance into the Yellow River taken at the place where we halted. Nov.r 1793 at 8 am'. Pasted on mount with washlines.

Described as 'A View of the Yellow River taken from the North side where the Embassador's squadron halted. Nothing could convey a better idea or be more expressive of the busy scene of vessels on the Yellow River than this drawing' in manuscript notes bound with the drawings. Many views in this series were reproduced in Sir George Staunton's Narrative of the Embassy, published in 1797.
