Description
Two men under a tree contemplate the view of the convent of San Francesco al Monte or Monteripido from the south, within walls fortified with bastions and defended by cannons firing over a palisade, with key and explanatory text below and plan and scale at right. Annotated 'ALZATO / PIANTA DEL MONTE DI PERUGIA'.

Additional information
Bound in volume with index preceding drawings and prints numbered 1-115 (page no. 72). Probably from the collection of Cardinal Albani, acquired for George III by James Adam in 1762. The monastery of Santa Caterina Vecchia to which the text refers did not receive that name until 1649. Cannons are depicted in the drawing because of the use of the convent as a military fortress during the Wars of Castro (1641-1649).
