Additional information
Another version of this view by Hearne is at Tate Britain T08942. The view is almost exactly the same except it bears two figures with two dogs in the lower left-hand corner and is more finished than the version in the King's Topographical Collection. A print after the watercolour in the Tate was engraved and published by William Watts (1752-1851) on June 1 1793. The Mote house was demolished between 1793-1800 and a Georgian building erected in it's place. This view depicts the old Mote house.
