A man walks on a road with fences on both sides in the Valley of Lauterbrunnen in the foreground, with cottages and cattle grazing on a meadow at right, Staubbach waterfall beyond and mountains and forests in the background; on support with wash-lines and title inscribed below.

Identified as by William Pars by Andrew Wilton, who linked it to an earlier version in the British Museum (1870,0514.1218), dated 1770, and to another drawing in the Higgins Bedford Museum signed and dated 'W. P. 1775' (information from Andrew Wilton, P&D, 20 June 1967; confirmed by Andrew Wilton on 1 November 1978).
