Additional information
Bound in volume with index preceding drawings and prints numbered 1-115 (page no. 67). Probably from the collection of Cardinal Albani, acquired for George III by James Adam in 1762. According to Girolamo Baldassini, the tower of the Palazzo Pubblico at Jesi was already nearing ruin in about 1558. If finally collapsed on 21 February 1657. Baldassini refers to Alexander VII's support for the bishop's plans to rebuild the tower, for which he obtained three thousand scudi from the Camera Apostolica. This drawing, which includes an estimate of the costs of the building works at a total of 3,690 scudi, is possibly an assessment of the condition of the building superimposed (as a flap) to the proposed new tower, never completed (see Baldassini, G., Memorie istoriche dell' antichissima e regia citta_ di Jesi, Jesi, 1765, pp. 288-289). The assessment is signed by 'Gio. Angiolo Bianeves' and 'Giacomo Bettini', who might be the draughtsmen as well.
