- Additional information
- This work is one of a group in guard volume 49b in the King's Topographical Collection which are by the same hand. They depict the same scenes as in drawings by John Frederick Miller used for Thomas Pennant's 'A Tour in Scotland and Voyage to the Hebrides, 1772' and held in the Manuscripts Department at the British Library, AD Mss 15,509. The drawings in the King's Topographical Collection are on wove paper which suggests a slightly later date than 1772 and perhaps indicates they were made after the Miller set at AD Mss 15,509. The use of line and handling of the medium suggest that Miller, or an artist working closely with him, produced these drawings.
