Description
Figures walking on a path in the foreground; Allan Ramsay's house in the middle ground on the edge of a hill; buildings, hills and trees throughout the scene; the Firth of Forth in the distance. Bears inscription on verso 'View of the Town and Castle of Stirling' in black ink. Inscribed in a different hand 'Edinburgh & the north lock with the bank on shich the new town is built' in pencil.

In the 1829 Catalgoue this drawing is mistakenly identified as depicting Stirling. By the 1844 Catalgoue the drawing was re-catalogued as depicting Edinburgh.
