- Figures walking on a path in the foreground; Allan Ramsay's house in the middle ground on the edge of a hill; buildings, hills and trees throughout the scene; the Firth of Forth in the distance. Bears inscription on verso 'View of the Town and Castle of Stirling' in black ink. Inscribed in a different hand 'Edinburgh & the north lock with the bank on shich the new town is built' in pencil.
