This drawing depicts the house built in 1762 for Alexander Emerson (1714-1891). It is incorrectly named on this drawing and its correct name was West Retford House. The building still stands and is now a hotel. This drawing was the basis for a print by John Walker (active 1784-1802), published by Harrison & Co. in 'Picturesque views of the principal seats of the nobility and gentry in England and Wales' in 1788 (see British Museum 1784-18021870,1008.262).
