- Description
- This drawing was catalogued in 1829 as a design for St John's Church, Wapping but was later amended to St George in the East in the annotated catalogue Maps Ref 2.1 (2). In 1844 the drawing was catalogued as a design for St Anne's Church, Limehouse. It is bound with architectural drawings for Christchurch, Spitalfields. This drawing and those at Maps K.Top.23.21.2.m., K.Top.23.21.2.n. and Maps K.Top.23.21.2.p. do not relate to the finished designs for St George in the East, St Anne's, Limehouse or Christchurch, Spitalfields although they bear similarities to many architectural motifs in all three churches and are likely to originate from Nicholas Hawksmoor's studio. This drawing and that at K.Top.23.21.2.p. depict the east end section of a church.
