- Additional information
- One of three drawings of the same structure at Maps K.Top.15.64.a. - Maps K.Top.15.64.c. Gubbins or Gobions was owned by Jeremy Sambrook who commissioned James Gibbs to undertake additions to the property and grounds in around 1732. These drawings probably relate to a later phase of development and may depict a summer or garden house. The Bodleian Map, which depicts the plan of and some structures on the Gobions estate, does not show this building. Gobions was purchased by John Hunter in 1777 and the inscription on these drawings suggest that the building depicted was an addition made during his ownership and not from an earlier phase of development. See Rowe, Anne and Williamson, Tom, New Light on Gobions", 'Garden History', 40 (2012), 82-97."
