A tessellated pavement discovered at three feet under the surface in digging a cellar at the house next the King's Head Inn, in the high street of the city of Canterbury, June 20, 1758; in the earth which covered the pavement was found a brass medal of Carausius and one of Valentinian I. / EJ.

A coloured drawing of a mosaic pavement depicting a guilloche archway with two columns flanked by guilloche bordered rectangles each enclosing a stylised flower. Inscribed with title, date and initials below image in brown ink. Bears watermark JWHATMAN.
